I'm glad we found this hole-in-the-wall! My friends and I were visiting UCSB from out of town for the weekend and we were looking for a breakfast place before the long trip back home. This place has a cozy atmosphere and I was surprised that there was a live band playing. I ordered the crab omelette and my sister ordered the Loco Moco that they had as one of the day's specials. Both dishes were tasty and hearty, plus reasonably priced. I love how filled the omelette was and how the cheese from inside the omelette would stretch from every forkful! Even the food that my friends ordered looked delicious. The service was also pretty good. Definitely would come again when we come back to visit UCSB.

If you're looking for a hole-in-the-wall where locals get their breakfast on...you've found it! Family run and Polynesian themed, this is one of my favorite greasy spoons to hit up after a long night out or when the wallet is lacking. Alphie's has been a staple in Old Town Goleta for over 30 years--that says something in itself! Even after being faced with a kitchen fire that caused a fair amount of damage in January of 2019, it came back full strength with interior updates yet the same charm. Their menu is extensive offering everything from omelettes to pancakes to loco moco or chicken fried steak. My all time favorite choice though are any of the Potato Skin Skillets. It is exactly as it sounds: gutted potato skins topped with scrambled eggs, cheese, and your choice of additional toppings like Ortega chiles, bacon, avocado, tomato and beyond. Truly a meat and potatoes or Midwesterner's dream breakfast. Never pass up their daily specials since it is often something fun and tasty. Alphie's is open every day from 6 am until 2 pm serving breakfast and lunch. They also now have wi-fi for customers. The servers who run the business will undoubtably welcome you with a smile.

Alphie is a family owned diner that's fairly quiet and cozy. I frequently go here with my friends for breakfast/lunch/brunch. There's never a wait and you just seat yourself, and there's parking easily found nearby. I think this is a great hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Goleta. Service is always fine, can't really complain.I get my water refilled often, order taken quickly, and if I need anything it's done quickly. The food is always good. Something I really love is their home fries/potatoes. Their home fries/potatoes is probably my favorite out of ANY brunch/breakfast place that I've ever been to. I personally think it's better than Cajun Kitchen, Domingo's, Cody's Cafe, Finch & Fork, and even better than most places outside of SB as well! I love potatoes in general, so good home fries with my breakfast/brunch is extremely important to how much I like a breakfast/brunch place. If you were to go here, I'd recommend their omelettes, the beachcomber, and probably their french toast/pancakes as well! Overall, Alphie's is one of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots in S.B. and I highly recommend it, if you're ever looking for a quiet and cozy brunch spot! There's typically never a wait, so you can just sit down and get your food quicker (compared to other places like Cajun Kitchen on busy days). The food is fairly priced, they have the BEST home fries/potatoes, and most of the food that I've tried is yummy as well. So just go and stop by already for a tasty meal!
